Dangerous Ants

Top Three Dangerous Ants

There are basically three types of brutally dangerous ants found in the world.  It is believed that they have been scavenging all environments of the world for at least 100 million years.  They find their homes on every continent with the exception of Antarctica.  There are around an estimated 12,000 different species of ants on the planet but the human race, large animals and all types of ecosystems are haunted by these three types of dangerous ants.

Argentine Ants

The very tiny Argentine ant is extremely social in behavior and is well known for how incredibly detailed their colonies are organized.  These ants are so amazingly genetically similar with everything that they do and how they interact that they can walk into other colonies that are not theirs and not be killed for intrusion.  If super-colonies merge, they are highly destructive, especially if their colonies happen to be near a human settlement.

The Argentine ant is not only one of the top three dangerous ants in the world but it is also considered to be in the top 100 most dangerous animal invaders in the world since they are known to kill off other ant species in their geographical area.  As pests, the Argentine ant tends to enter human establishments searching for food.  If they form a colony in a home or building, they are very hard to destroy since a typical colony will have 8 queens to every group of 1,000 workers.  If you spray pesticides, the queen will only lay eggs faster.  These are one of the most dangerous ants to humans because they are known for carrying diseases into hospitals.

Fire Ants

Fire ants have been one of the most dangerous ants found in the United States since they were introduced accidentally in the 1930s.  Fire ants are known for their extremely aggressive behavior and the massive-sized ant colonies that they build.  They attack in large swarms after the first ant's sting releases an attractive pheromone to call the other ants.  Therefore, if you happen to be stung once and you do not get away fast enough there is a good chance that you will get attacked by the whole entire colony.

These dangerous ants inflict an immediate sharp, burning pain and irritation which gives them their name of “fire” ants.  The venom will cause the erection of white pustules on the bite location about 24 hours after the incident occurs.  These ants are huge pests because they can adapt to various environmental conditions so they are difficult to destroy.  Some individuals are sensitive to the fire ant's venom and will go into anaphylactic shock and die if left untreated, similar to those that are allergic to a bee sting.

Siafu Ants

Also called the Army ant or Driver ant, these dangerous ants are known for their razor sharp mandibles that they can cut with.  Colonies are made up of various classes and the queen has the record for being the world's largest ant.

Siafu ants march in groups of millions through the forest floors, eating everything that moves, even elephants will run away from them.  It is not uncommon to see a colony of 20 million individuals which makes these not only dangerous ants but deadly ones as well.  These ants are so powerful that if you rip one in half while it is biting you, its jaw will remain locked in position in your flesh.  Individuals have reported using the jaws of Siafu ants as stitches in extreme circumstances when medical attention was not accessible.  When they move in full force together they are virtually unstoppable and will eat everything to the bone with no exceptions.
